Tim Longstaff (left), general manager at National Distributors Inc. and Josh Colpritt, driver, are part of the effort to make driving safer on Maine roads.

"We want to lead the way when it comes to safe driving. This program will help us continue our efforts to promote driving safety. We are proud to be one of the companies in Maine to implement the program and will continue to encourage other businesses and individuals to take steps to help us keep Maine roads as safe as possible," said Tim Longstaff, general manager at National Distributors Inc.

As part of the program, National Distributors Inc. has communicated to employees about World Safety Day and the importance of the Driving Change program. The company has updated its cell phone/electronic device policy for their drivers and the strict disciplinary policy for at-fault motor vehicle accidents.

To continue to raise awareness for driving safety, the company will have signs around the building about safe behavior behind the wheel of cars, trucks, fork lifts and other distribution warehouse machinery. The company will also reach out to communities in Maine through social media and other marketing channels to promote World Safety Day and the new Driving Change program at National Distributors Inc.

Companies across the globe that are part of the Driving Change program are also sharing their expertise and data, promoting safer driving behavior and working together to improve road safety.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work has been observed on April 28 by the International Labour Organization since 2003 as a way to promote a safe and healthy work environment. To learn more, visit www.togetherforsaferroads.org.
