February 2018

So far, 2018 is off to a great start and spring is right around the corner. Unfortunately, the Patriots couldn't bring home the big win, but they put on a good show. Congratulations to the Eagles for their hard-earned victory. We will come back stronger next year. Win or lose, fans around the country were treated to some great medieval comedy from Bud Light throughout the game. Dilly dilly!

I would like to remind everyone about the Stella Artois campaign to provide access to clean drinking water to people living in the developing world. You can purchase a limited-edition chalice and Stella will make a donation to water.org. One chalice supplies one person with five years of clean drinking water. You can help end the global water crisis and have a stylish Stella chalice featuring artwork from people in affected countries. So far, access to clean water has been provided for more than 1 million people. The goal is 3.5 million by 2020. Let's work together and shatter this goal. Craft Beer Selection

We have a few craft brews that we think you will enjoy as winter starts to wind down and the warm weather returns. Here are just a few of our favorites.

Geaghan Brothers Refueler —- This American-style wheat beer is designed to keep you flying longer with its lower ABV. A light hoppy bitterness cuts through this unfiltered cloudy, straw-colored beer created with the use of American Hefeweizen yeast. We proudly salute our hometown Maine Air National Guard with this refreshing wheat beer.

Golden Road Wolf Pup Session IPA — Hoppy and refreshing, Wolf Pup is our riff on a session IPA. Highly drinkable with a wildly aromatic tropical and citrus character, it's the perfect companion to keep on sippin' for those long, sunny days. Brewed and canned in Los Angeles and Fairfield, California.

Harpoon UFO Pineapple — Introducing UFO's first new year-round product in eight years, UFO Pineapple is a golden, juicy and tropical Hefeweizen that helps get your luau on, no matter the season. Just all hula skirts.

Jack's Abby Saxony — Decoction mash and majority Vienna malt creates a traditional malty character. Lightly hopped with Bavarian hops and left unfiltered, yielding a lightly fruity aroma.

New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA — Packed with bright tropical aromas and brilliant citrusy flavors, this unfiltered IPA wraps up with a pleasantly smooth finish.

Newburyport Maritime Lager — A bright, golden, easy drinking Munich helles lager with balanced hops and malt for a smooth flavor and dry finish.

Zachary Klein and Arlo Pike Named
Gaziano Award Winners

Each student received $5,000,
the largest scholarship of its kind in the country

Jeff Kane, Frank J. Gaziano's son-in-law, announced the scholarship winners of the Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards during a ceremony at the Augusta Civic Center. Zachary Klein and Arlo Pike from Bonny Eagle High School were named the top senior football offensive and defensive linemen in the state based on their hard work on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities. The two winners each received a trophy, a leather jacket and a $5,000 scholarship, the largest high school football scholarship of its kind in the country.

The runners-up for the Gaziano Awards were offensive linemen Cole Hoffman from Kennebunk High School and Sean McCormack-Kuhman from Wells High School and defensive linemen Michael Lunny, of Sanford High School and Aidan Parmenter from Leavitt Area High School. Each runner-up received a $1,000 scholarship, a trophy and a leather jacket with the Gaziano Awards logo. The video re-broadcast of the event can be found at www.munzingmediasports.com/gaziano-award.

The scholarship and awards program for Maine senior high school football linemen was created in memory of Frank J. Gaziano, founder of National Distributors and a former college All American and professional football player with a lifelong passion for local sports. Annual funding for the $14,000 in scholarships is provided by National Distributors in South Portland, the company founded by the late Gaziano. During the past eight years of the Gaziano Awards, $96,000 has been awarded by National Distributors to Maine students.
