December 2017

The year is almost over and we will be entering our 57th year of operation. I would like to thank all of our customers and employees for another great year of business. Our success would not be possible without their continued support. Thanks to everyone involved and let's raise a glass to many more years of business together! We are looking forward to all the new opportunities that 2018 will bring to expand our product offering and continue to grow our relationships with our customers.

With the holiday season in full swing, we wanted to ensure we were doing what we could to support our community. One campaign was for Toys for Tots, in which employees could choose to wear denim on Fridays and make a donation to support toys for children. Staff raised $326 and the company also matched this, bringing the total donated to $800! This money is used by Toys for Tots to purchase gifts for children who otherwise may not have any gifts under the tree. Also, for the past month, staff have been making donations to the Preble Street Resource Center on behalf of those less privileged who especially need a helping hand this time of year. The donations below were delivered on December 15th, just in time for the holidays.

Winter Beer Selections

Jack's Abby Red TapeJack's Abby Red Tape — Navigating the labyrinth of brewery licensing and state regulations isn't easy. When we finally got the green light, we also got inspired with the perfect name for our pilot brew. Red Tape Lager has a full malty flavor typical of Bavarian dark lagers. Cold fermented in the 40s and lagered at freezing, a traditional spunding process allowed for 100% natural carbonation. Prost!

Long Trail HibernatorLong Trail Hibernator — A Vermont classic returns in 2017! Built to take the bite from a cold winter night, Hibernator features a rich malt base highlighted by warming notes of caramel and toffee. Don't sleep on this rich, robust winter brew.

New Belgium AccumlationNew Belgium Accumulation — Brewing a white IPA was not only a way to salute the white beauty falling from the sky, but a direct revolt to the longstanding tradition of brewing dark beers for winter and winter seasonal beers. At least that's what our rebellious brewers like to claim as they shovel in plenty of mosaic and Amarillo hop varietals and a bit of wheat for a smooth mouthfeel. Stack up a few cases of Accumulation White IPA to keep your long nights glowing blizzard white.

With a new season comes a new opportunity to experience seasonal brews, new and old. We hope you will get the chance to try some of these beers before they are gone. What you drink is more important than how much. Essentia's proprietary ionization process creates a supercharged ionized alkaline water that's better at rehydrating. First, water from any source is passed through microfiltration, reverse osmosis and ultraviolet exposure making Essentia 99.9% pure. Then, trace amounts of electrolytes are added for taste that complement the body's natural mix. Next, removal of the bitter-tasting acidic ions creates a 9.5pH (or higher) ionized alkaline water. The result is supercharged ionized alkaline water, which increases human potential with peak hydration performance for people who love getting more out of life.

Essentia water was tested in a hydration study, the first of its kind for a bottled water. It has been scientifically shown to rehydrate better! For more information on the study, you can read all about it here.

Winter Wine Selections

The holidays would not be complete without an alluring wine to accompany all the delicious seasonal foods and family celebrations. Here are just a few of our recommendations for winter wines.

(Sangiovese, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon)
Siena has delicious aromas of raspberry jam, bacon, maple, leather and cardamom. Flavors of sweet plums and cherries are followed by graham cracker with plum on the finish.

(Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot)
Rich and concentrated, this full-bodied wine displays alluring layers of blackberry and ripe cherry, along with hints of spearmint and caramel. On the palate, the voluptuous fruit flavors are underscored by plush tannins that carry the wine to a long, silky finish.

(Cabernet, Syrah, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel)
Very robust, this wine features aromas of campfire smoke and just a pinch of spice. Flavors of ripe plum, caramel and blackberry-infused maple syrup. Velvety smooth on the mouth, with a bold finish.
