Holiday Wine Selections

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we all know this means copious amounts of food and drink. One of the best ways to give thanks is to bring a bottle of fine wine to share with family and friends. To make life easier on you, here are a few options that are sure to make you the life of the party this Thanksgiving.

Everyone loves bubbly; especially around the holidays. Stella Prosecco is bright and effervescent, offering notes of fresh green apple and pear.

If you are looking for a nice red option, Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau offers a well-balanced wine that is enjoyable and fruity with pleasant aromas of black fruit and spices. Wine maker Véronique Boss-Drouhin notes that the Beaujolais Nouveau "offers all the freshness of a primeur wine! According to the vintages, the wine may be fairly round, close to Burgundy style, or firmer. It reveals aromas reminiscent of red fruit, more or less strong, together with a refreshing acidity."

New Winter Brews

Winter is coming and most of our fall beers are almost gone. As we brace for another Maine winter, we have a handful of new seasonal brews coming in that will make the chilly nights a little warmer.

New this winter from Harpoon is their UFO Winter Blonde; hazy and golden in color, this unfiltered vanilla cold brew ale balances a subtle vanilla sweetness with a hint of cold brew coffee.

10 Barrel Brewing is our newest brand from the west coast and their winter offering is Pray for Snow. This delicately balanced strong ale starts with dark copper color mixed with slight reddish hues and a light tan head. Big malty aroma with a Munich character give way to a slight caramel and toffee mixed with spicy noble hop aroma, all wrapped together with a medium-bodied mouth feel. German malt flavor profile with slight roasty notes gives Pray for Snow a subtle toffee sweetness balanced with spicy hop bitterness and slight alcohol warming.

From Maine, we have Geaghan Brother's Penobscot Icebreaker. The Icebreaker is a classic winter spice ale made with pumpkin, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, and boasting a high enough alcohol content to help warm you on any winter day.

Last but not least, we have Jack's Abby Red Tape Amber Lager. Red Tape has a full malty flavor typical of Bavarian dark lagers. It's then cold fermented in the 40s and lagered at freezing, a traditional spunding process allowing for 100% natural carbonation.

So if you prefer a blonde, a dark ale, a winter spice ale or an amber lager, we have got you covered on all bases this winter.
