May 2016

Before we raise a glass to kick off Memorial Day weekend, at National Distributors we want to raise a glass to Jeff Kane who announced his retirement after more than 36 years as president of our company. In my first e-newsletter, I want to share the appreciation that I and all our employees have for what Jeff accomplished in his career. Jeff still remains very passionate about our company and will remain a stockholder. We are very excited for him and wish him the best in retirement!

In my role new role as president, just like Jeff, I believe that people are the foundation of our business. Since joining National in 1984 and in my most recent role as business manager, I have always believed that our employees, customers, suppliers and consumers are what have made us successful. Jeff and I feel strongly that our company is always going to be based on strong relationships and the outstanding customer service you have come to expect from us.

Budweiser Honors Armed Forces

The upcoming Memorial Day holiday marks the unofficial start of summer and is an important time to honor our country's armed forces. Earlier this year, Budweiser introduced new "America" packaging that has been created so Americans can show their pride this summer. The packaging is scheduled to run from now through November.

Bud & Burgers

We are proud to co-host the 2nd Annual Bud & Burgers competition at Portland House of Music on Saturday, June 18 from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. In the competition, some of Portland's most beloved bars/restaurants will be offering up their finest burger to earn the coveted prize of 'Portland's Best Burger.' Seasonal Selections

Spring is upon us which means summer is almost here. In the beer world, we like to get summer started early. That being said, here are a handful of summer selections that will help you ease into the nicer weather.

If you are in the mood for a fruity beer, look no further than our hugely popular 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon, an American wheat beer brewed with real watermelon for a flavor that's surprisingly crisp, dry and refreshing.

A new fruit-forward option for this season is Harpoon Brewery's Camp Wannamango. Camp Wannamango is a pale ale brewed with mango. It begins with a subtle tropical aroma of passion fruit and mango. Golden-copper in color, it has a light body, slight hop bitterness and malty sweetness, and finishes with a kiss of mango.

Another refreshing choice is Goose Island Summertime Kolsch. With a light fruity aroma and a bright, crisp finish, Goose Island Summertime Kölsch is the perfect summer session ale. A Kölsch beer brewed in the traditional German fashion, you'll find yourself enjoying and savoring each sip of Summertime.

If you are looking for something on the hoppier side of things, Uinta's new Tangerine Hop Nosh IPA will be right up your alley. Uinta took their classic Hop Nosh and added real tangerine juice to the brew, which adds a tartness that complements the notable tropical hop characteristics of the classic Hop Nosh.

Whatever your adventure is this summertime, we have a beer for ever palate. Be sure to check the rest of our summer seasonal selections on our website.

Employee of the Month

As a sign of our appreciation, every month we honor one employee as the "Employee of the Month" based on their work and staff recommendations.

For the month of April, we are proud to announce Michael Godfrey, delivery driver, as employee of the month. Michael consistently goes above and beyond each day since coming to National. He is a great team player, helping new drivers in his old route and doing extra work to help the team. Michael also displays great flexibility when it comes to adjusting routes according to needs of the sales reps and accounts.

Thank you, Michael, for all your hard work!

Think ahead...if you drink, don't drive!
