July 2016

It is hard to believe that it is almost August already. Summer is really flying by. We hope that you have been enjoying this amazing weather as much as we have.

Like most of you, we here at National are excited for the Olympics starting in a few weeks. Budweiser has been partnered with the United States Olympic Committee for nearly three decades and includes 16 Olympic Games and Olympic Winter Games. The brand has been an Olympic supporter since 1984 when it served as the official beer sponsor of the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

For the 2016 games, Budweiser, the official beer sponsor of Team USA, has recruited six exciting athletes to join Team Budweiser. From a decathlete to a paralympic triathlete to a gold medalist in women's soccer, each member's story, personality and commitment to not taking short cuts reflects Budweiser's all-American values. While you are watching the games this summer, be sure to pick up Budweiser's "America" packaging and root on Team Budweiser!

"These are also the values of Budweiser, and we're extremely proud to partner with them this summer as they work toward their ultimate goal."

Citizen Cider

Citizen Cider

If you are looking for great beer alternative this summer, look no further than Citizen Cider from Vermont. Citizen Cider uses only 100% locally sourced apples, never from concentrate.

Justin Heilenbach, Bryan Holmes and Kris Nelson founded Citizen Cider in 2010 on a hunch and some good old-fashioned hard work. Kris was working as a wine salesmen, Bryan as a chemist and Justin as a small farmer. All discontent for one reason or another, they started pressing sweet cider in Kris's barn and fermenting test batches of hard cider in Bryan's basement. As it happens, they discovered that their ideas about hard cider translated into some pretty unique and interesting finished products.

Currently we are carrying four styles of Citizen in house. Unified Press is Citizen Cider's flagship cider that keeps you wondering where it's been your whole life. This naturally gluten-free cider is an off-dry, crisp, clean and refreshing cider that keeps you coming back.

The Dirty Mayor is named for Ric Cengeri, producer of Vermont Public Radio's "Vermont Edition." Or, as he is known in VPR studios and among his neighbors and buddies, "the Mayor." The mayor likes his cider with a ginger nip, so in our current effort to ensure local harmony and diplomacy, we offer this cider up to the mayor and his fellow citizens.

Citizen Cider is proud to work with the good growers on both sides of mighty Lake Champlain, Vermont and New York. As a tribute, The Lake Hopper is made entirely with apples and cascade hops from the same landscape, and in some cases the same farms, this cider is a tribute to those things that connect us. Two States. One Landscape. One Cider.

Wit's Up starts like an ale and finishes like a cider. This cider is fermented with a Belgian Wit yeast and malolactic cultures. No sugar is added, no sulfites are used, and it's always made with fresh sweet cider pressed at Happy Valley Orchard in Middlebury, Vermont. Wit's Up is clean and easy-drinking. Welcome to the future of cider.
