NEW! Blue Point Brewery

Blue Point Brewing Company logoWe are proud to introduce Blue Point Brewery to Maine. The Blue Point Brewing Company is Long Island's first currently-running microbrewery. Located in the 1970's Penguin Ice Factory on River Avenue in Patchogue, Blue Point was founded in 1998 by two long-time friends, Mark Burford and Pete Cotter. The brewery was inspired by their life-long dream and built from a rare assemblage of equipment collected from breweries around the country. Storage tanks, fermentation vessels, and other brewing equipment were also gathered from other breweries like Frederick, LaJolla, Red Hook, Pilgrim and others.

Since their humble beginnings, Blue Point has grown and received national recognition for their beers. Their flagship beer, Toasted Lager, has been awarded numerous accolades including a Gold medal at the World Beer Cup and numerous Silver medals at the Great American Beer Awards.

Starting off, we will be carrying their Toasted Lager, Summer Ale & Blueberry Ale. Toasted Lager is copper in color, made from six different malts, including English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat, and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager's balanced flavor of malt and hops makes for easy drinking and the special lager yeast used produces an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish.

The delicious golden taste of Summer Ale comes from a substantial portion of wheat malt added to a traditional barley malt mix, which gives this delicious brew a unique tartness not found in many beers today. No surprise - this light, thirst-quenching brew is best enjoyed on hot summer days.

Blue Point's Blueberry Ale offers an unusual twist on brewing that turns out to be a wonderful blend of fresh blueberries matched with a distinctive, thirst quenching ale. They carefully add 732 pounds of fresh, plump and juicy, handpicked, USA northern highbush blueberries to every batch. Even before your first sip of Blueberry Ale, a strong, refreshing sweet fruit aroma emanates from the bottle, kicking your taste buds into overdrive.

Now Arriving!

We have a handful of limited releases and new items that just arrived in house. Uinta's Birthday Suit, a brand developed to rotate in style and to be released annually in commemoration of another year of brewing, is back with its 4th release to commemorate 22 years of brewing. This year's incarnation of the Uinta's anniversary ale is a "sour abbey ale" brewed with plums and an authentic Belgian abbey yeast strain that's full of all of the bold character that have made abbey ales famous. Birthday Suit 22 is a playful combination of sour tanginess and subtle dried fruit esters.

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace Originally a member of our limited Brooklyn Brewery's Brewmaster's Reserve series, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a beer they just couldn't let disappear. Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, an unfiltered golden farmhouse ale, with a clean malt flavor and the quirky Sorachi Ace hop standing front and center. Dry-hopping releases Sorachi Ace's bright, spicy aromatics to tickle the nose before ascending into a fine harmony between pilsner malt and playful Belgian ale yeast. Now available in 12 oz. 4 packs, 750 ml. bottles and kegs.

Harpoon Take 5 Session IPAs are one of the hottest beer styles at the moment. Harpoon is throwing their hat in the mix with Take 5 Session IPA. Harpoon Take 5 was first brewed on the brewery's 10-barrel system in early 2014. With each pilot batch the recipe was tweaked until the desired balance between hop aroma and malt character was achieved. This final version begins with a vibrant citrus and pine hop aroma from Simcoe and Amarillo hops and follows through with a sturdy malt profile from the combination of Pale, Vienna, Carapils, and English Amber malts. Hop forward but not too bitter, low ABV but with a significant malt body -- a truly sessionable beer.
