Luck of the Irish:
Brews for St Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is universally known as a drinking holiday. Originally a religious holiday, it has since become more of a celebration of all things Irish. Whether you are Irish or not, St. Patrick's Day is meant to be a time of good spirits for all.

Murphy's Irish StoutWe all know that one of the Irish's most revered styles of beer is the stout and what would a St. Paddy's Day be without at least one dark one?! One stout option would be our Murphy's Irish Stout. Founded in 1856, Murphy's smooth, creamy flavor is less bitter and more accessible than other 'famous' stouts.

Brooklyn Dry Irish StoutFor a different take on the classic stout formula, Brooklyn's Dry Irish Stout fits the bill. Brooklyn's Dry Irish Stout uses large amounts of roasted grains to develop nice coffee and chocolate flavors and the famed East Kent Golding hop lends to the earthy aroma. Traditionally light in carbonation, it's brisk enough to pair with oysters, but bold enough to handle a burger.

Harpoon Irish Stout Another craft brand stout choice for the holiday is Harpoon Brewery's Boston Irish Stout. This beer has been a mainstay at Harpoon's brewpub and around the Boston market and now it's available to you! Boston Irish Stout is a traditional dry Irish stout. The Boston Irish Stout is full-bodied but sessionable with a creamy texture (derived from the nitro pour); it combines the roasted character of six malts with delicate Willamette hops.

Gritty's Special Oatmeal Stout For Maine brews, we have Gritty's Special Oatmeal Stout - S.0.S; a robust stout brewed with 7 barley hops, torrified and malted wheat, 10% flake oats and hopped with 3 varieties of Goldings Hops. S.O.S. has a smooth, chocolatey flavor with a light touch of hops.

Rogue Irish Style Lager Lastly, Rogue's Irish Lager is a Lager alternative to the heavy/darker brews that are prevalent during St Paddy's Day. This Irish style Lager has a smooth mellow flavor and an apple crisp finish. This lager has won numerous beer awards and like anything Rogue produces, you really can't go wrong!

NEW! Woodchuck Gumption

Woodchuck GumptionGumption™ is the newest style of our Woodchuck family. You could say the name was inspired by the pioneering liquid in the bottle. At Woodchuck, they had the gumptio to pair the fresh juice of common eating apples with dry European bittersweet cider apples.

This refreshing and traditional cider, with no added flavors, will bring you a bold and unique drinking experience that combines both the American craft innovation with the tradition of European cider.

Those looking for a cider that is not too sweet and one you can enjoy over and over again, look no further. At 5.5% ABV, Gumption has a fresh apple aroma with a sweet apple taste upfront and a dry finish. Gumption will complement any of your adventures as you follow your own path. Step right up! Now available year-round!

Employee of the Month

Here at National, we like to acknowledge all of the hard work that our employees put in every single day. As a sign of our appreciation, every month we honor one employee as the "Employee of the Month" based on their work and staff recommendations.

For the month of February, we are proud to announce Chris Hall, loading-unloading supervisor, as employee of the month. Chris has been a longstanding employee at National and over the years he hasn't missed a single day of work. Through brutal temperatures this winter, Chris has stayed late to unload side bay trucks by hand. Chris always goes above and beyond and leads his team by example.

Thanks, Chris, for all of your hard work.

Think ahead...if you drink, don't drive!
